Because the Pyro removed the tires of their snowplow and burned them for a campfire at their second-to-last stop, the mercs are forced to walk through the snowy pastures. The Pyro tags with Miss Pauling while the Demoman and the Soldier head to the courthouse to save their brothers-in-arms from being sentenced to death.Īfter the Scout and the Spy are rescued from the gallows in Teufort, the Pyro accompanies the Soldier and the Scout to Northern Siberia to find the Heavy. While the Soldier has his hand sewn back on at a veterinarian's office, the Pyro adopts a Dalmatian puppy. During the ride to find the Scout and the Spy, the Pyro cuts off the Soldier's hand in an argument over the backseat space. Without further ado, the Pyro rushes out to reclaim his birthright of setting everything in sight ablaze. Just then, the Pyro sees a stream of colors emanating from an opposing building, which is really a fire lit by Miss Pauling and the Soldier to lure the Pyro back into the team. ![]() The Pyro is asked to say a few words to celebrate, but as seen from a POV change, the Pyro is completely disinterested and bored by the unexciting events. An executive states that thanks to their new CEO's "inspiring leadership", the company has had their most profitable quarter yet, making everyone in the room millionaires. In 1972, six months after the TF2 mercs disband on account of Mann Co.'s takeover by Gray Mann, the Pyro is seen in corporate board meeting in a high-rise building for Frontier Engineering. Though the Engineer briefly questions the mysterious Pyro for any involvement in interdimensional shenanigans, he decides to take the loot for the team and search out the sender with the Pyro so they can pay him a new house. They discover the debris to be filled with new-fangled weaponry, apparently from another dimension. In the comic True Meaning, the Pyro listens to the Engineer's story about Australian Christmas, which is interrupted when a rocket falls and crashes into the Engineer's house. ![]() Outside of this, when deprived of fire, the Pyro sees the world as grey and gruelingly monotonous, with the people being similarly colorless masses of rectangular shapes who spout muffled, unintelligible gibberish when speaking, in much the same manner as the Pyro does vocalizes.ĭuring the summer of 1968, the Pyro was one of nine mercenaries to be recruited by Reliable Excavation & Demolition and Builders League United to continue Redmond and Blutarch's neverending war to seize the land left to them by their deceased father. In sharp contrast, these supposedly innocuous actions, such as blowing bubbles at the angels, feeding them lollipops, or fixing up the scenery are actually the Pyro committing violent murders in the real world, shooting the actual humans the baby angels represent with guns, hacking them to death with sharp blades or locking victims in buildings to torch them. Within Pyroland, people are seen as imaginary creatures, such as giant butterflies, flying unicorns, floating kittens, or winged baby angels, who the Pyro sees as friends and appears to play with in a girlish, child-like manner. Through this "Pyrovision", the Pyro sees fire is a magical spray of rainbows, stars, and glitter that brighten up the world and the Pyro's signature flamethrower as some sort of bubble-spraying trumpet cannon. The Pyro perceives its surrondings as a cartoonish, saccharine, candy-filled fantasyworld torn straight out of a children's television show known as Pyroland. What little is seen from the eyes behind the mask reveals that the Pyro is, to say the least, insane, utterly delusional, and completely detached from reality. No one can say for sure what exactly the Pyro is, whether the person underneath the proximity suit is male or female, or if the Pyro is even human, any assumptions about the topic being doubtful at best. ![]() Nothing is known about the Pyro's background. ![]()
